Ironman 70.3 Auckland 2014
Located in the heart of downtown Auckland, the city will see the event double as the official Asia-Pacific Championship once again.
Crowie’s first race of 2014 takes place in New Zealand’s largest city, an exciting lend of vibrant city culture and stunning natural beauty. Its sparkling waters, scenic landscapes and cosmopolitan city life combine to make it one of the most desirable places in the world to live or visit – in fact Auckland is rated third on the mercer scale of global lifestyle cities and Lonely Planet recently named Auckland as one of the world’s Top 10 cities for 2014.
Competitors will start in the Auckland waterfront, with a swim in the Viaduct Harbour, followed by the ride over the Auckland Harbour Bridge, and finished with the run along the waterfront.
In addition to showcasing iconic Auckland landscapes, the venue has a long history with IRONMAN. When the brand began its global journey in the mid-80’s, Auckland was selected as the first international venue with elements of the current run and bike retracing parts of that original course. The full event schedule can be seen here.
There are 30 qualifying slots to the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii and 50 to the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada.
